Learning

Burnholme Nursery provides a stimulating learning environment which is tailored to each individual child.

The Nursery operates under the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. Planning throughout the nursery is based on Government guidelines detailed in the EYFS document and covers children aged from birth to five years.

EYFS states that, every child deserves the best possible start in life and support to fulfill their potential. A childs experiences in the early years have a major impact on their future life chances. A secure, safe and happy childhood is important in its own right, and it provides the foundation for children to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up. When parents choose to use early years services they want to know that provision will keep their children safe and help them to thrive.

The EYFS is divided in to four themes:

A Unique Child Every child is a competent learner from birth who can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.

Positive Relationships Children learn to be stronger and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents and/or a key person.

Enable Environment The environment plays a key role in supporting and extending childrens development and learning.

Learning and Development Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates and all of Learning and Development are equally important and inter-connected.

It's important to us that the children learn about the world around them. As well as planned trips, we also invite organisations in to talk to the children. in the past we have had visits from the Fire Service, followed by North Yorkshire Police!
